HAIS is a community of private and independent not-for-profit elementary and secondary schools in Hawaii who support the mission of the organization and whose programs are primarily academic. Because HAIS believes children are best served by a continuum of quality educational experiences from early childhood through higher education, associate membership status is available to preschools and institutions of higher learning.

Categories of Membership

• Full Membership is open to fully accredited elementary and secondary private and independent schools.
• Provisional Membership is open for a period of three years to elementary and secondary private and independent schools actively seeking accreditation.
• Associate Membership is open to not-for-profit, accredited, Hawaii-based early childhood centers, colleges and universities.
• Affiliate Membership is open to unaccredited elementary and secondary private and independent schools which are in good standing and licensed by Hawaii Council of Private Schools.
